Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cost for a diagnosis at the Finding Focus clinic?

Finding Focus provides a comprehensive mental health assessment for ADHD, anxiety, and depression for a one-time fee of $399. Please note that once an appointment is booked, the fee is non-refundable. After receiving a diagnosis, you may choose to join our continuous care program at a monthly rate of $24.99, ensuring ongoing support for your mental health journey.

Will my insurance cover the assessment fee?

Great question! Our ADHD assessment is completed by qualified clinicians who are licensed in Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, PEI, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. While our services may not always align with traditional insurance coverage categories, there's good news! If your insurance plan includes a health savings account or extended health benefits, it's likely you can leverage that for coverage of our assessment fee. You'll be provided with a comprehensive receipt detailing the clinician's registration number and all necessary information, ensuring a smooth submission process.

How much time does the ADHD diagnosis process take?

The whole process, from completing your self-assessment and registration to scheduling a diagnostic appointment and receiving diagnostic results, typically happens on the same day. Our team works diligently to ensure timely and effective care.

Do I need to prepare anything for my diagnostic consultation?

You'll be asked to fill out some intake forms and complete a few assessments prior to your evaluation. These forms and assessments, which take about 20-25 minutes in total, provide essential information about your current symptoms and past medical history to help our clinicians make an accurate diagnosis. All of this can be done from the comfort of your home. No other preparation is necessary.

Is 75 mins enough time to diagnose ADHD?

In the majority of cases, 75 minutes is sufficient for a comprehensive ADHD assessment. Our process combines cutting-edge AI technology with the expertise of licensed clinicians to ensure no crucial details are missed. AI tools help analyze your responses and identify symptom patterns, allowing the clinician to focus on discussing your medical history, current challenges, and the impact of ADHD on your life.

In some instances, the assessment may require additional time to ensure a thorough evaluation. If this is the case, your clinician will inform you and help arrange a follow-up appointment for the additional time needed. This ensures that every aspect of your diagnosis is carefully considered.

What happens after my diagnosis?

If you're diagnosed with ADHD and start treatment, your clinician will schedule a follow-up appointment during the initial assessment, typically within 30 days. This follow-up is an opportunity to review how you’re responding to the medication, make any necessary adjustments, and complete refills.

When you agree to the follow-up, you’ll be enrolled in our membership program, which includes a 10-minute check-in visit once per month. The membership has no commitments, and you can cancel at any time. Alternatively, you can choose to pay per visit at $75 and book appointments as needed.

At Finding Focus, we’re committed to helping you gain clarity about your mental health and guiding you toward the best resources to support your well-being.

Do I need to enroll in the monthly membership, or is just getting a diagnosis enough?

Getting a diagnosis is sufficient if you don’t require ongoing treatment or medication management. However, if you start treatment, we recommend enrolling in the monthly membership, as it includes regular 10-minute check-ins to monitor your progress, adjust medications as needed, and ensure your treatment plan remains effective.

The membership is optional, and there are no commitments—you can cancel anytime. Alternatively, you can choose to pay per visit at $75 if you prefer to book appointments only when needed.

I already have an ADD or ADHD diagnosis, do I still need to complete an assessment or can I go straight to the monthly membership?

Even with a prior diagnosis, we require a comprehensive assessment for all new intakes at Finding Focus. This helps us gather detailed health history and understand your experiences across different life domains, ensuring we can provide the most personalized and effective care possible.

How long is the assessment, and what can I expect during the 75-minute consultation?

The assessment is a comprehensive 75-minute session designed to provide a thorough understanding of your symptoms, medical history, and how ADHD affects your daily life. During this time, your clinician will ask targeted questions to uncover patterns and challenges while ensuring all aspects of your mental health are considered.

At Finding Focus, we leverage cutting-edge AI-powered tools to enhance the assessment process. These advanced tools analyze the information you provide in real-time, identifying key insights and patterns to support your clinician in making a precise diagnosis. This integration of technology ensures your evaluation is both efficient and highly accurate, allowing the clinician to focus on personalizing your treatment plan.

By the end of the session, you’ll have a clear diagnosis and a roadmap for potential treatment options, setting you on a path toward improved mental well-being.

I'm feeling nervous about the assessment, and I'm not sure I remember everything about my early life. Is this a problem?

It's completely natural to feel nervous and we're here to help. Our clinicians will guide you throughout the process, asking specific questions to help jog your memory. Even if you don't remember everything, the goal is to understand patterns across your life that could point towards ADHD. You're in safe hands with Finding Focus.

Yes, Finding Focus offers a variety of treatment options for ADHD, including both stimulant and non-stimulant medications. Our clinicians understand that every individual's needs are unique, and we believe in a personalized approach to treatment. If stimulant medications are not suitable for you, for any reason, we can explore non-stimulant options.

Non-stimulant medications work differently than stimulants but can be just as effective in managing ADHD symptoms. They may also have fewer side effects. Besides medication, we also encourage and support lifestyle modifications and coping strategies, which can play a crucial role in managing ADHD.

Remember, the goal is to find a treatment plan that fits you best and helps you lead a fulfilling life. We're here to guide and support you every step of the way.

If I'm diagnosed with ADHD, will I need to be on medication all my life? Is there a cure?

ADHD is a chronic condition that many people manage throughout their life. While there isn't a "cure" as such, it's important to know that there are many effective strategies for managing ADHD symptoms, and these can lead to a high quality of life.

The need for medication varies from person to person. Some people may require medication throughout their lives, while others may find they need it only during certain periods. Our team at Finding Focus will work with you to find the best approach based on your individual needs and circumstances.

In addition to medication, lifestyle modifications, behavioral therapy, and coping strategies can be very effective in managing ADHD. These non-medication strategies can sometimes reduce the need for medication, or even eliminate it over time. However, this varies greatly from person to person.

We believe in a comprehensive approach to ADHD management at Finding Focus, and we'll work closely with you to find the best combination of strategies to manage your ADHD effectively.

Can I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) into my treatment plan at Finding Focus?

Absolutely! We believe in a comprehensive, multi-modal approach to managing ADHD. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) has been shown to be particularly effective in treating ADHD and can be an excellent complement to medication management.

At Finding Focus, we are partnered with several CBT-focused clinics and can provide free referrals to help you access this valuable resource. Incorporating CBT into your treatment plan can help you develop useful skills and strategies to manage your ADHD symptoms and improve your overall quality of life. We're here to support you in creating a treatment plan that best suits your unique needs and lifestyle.
